DBJ has provided funding to develop Outameni, a theme park in Trelawny. The property boasts a dramatic landscape with an existing sugar mill and an 18th century Great House.

The theme park, inspired by the Jamaican national motto ‘Out of Many, One People’, is designed as a comprehensive journey through space and time covering over 500 years of Jamaican history. It includes the earliest inhabitants – from the Tainos (Awaraks) through to Europeans, Africans and Asians up to present-day Jamaicans.

The history is brought to life through the use of appropriate 3-dimensional facades, characters, costumes, set and audio-visual presentation.

The project responds directly to the need to develop the potential of historic towns such as Falmouth. In so doing it has filled the existing vacuum of heritage attractions in the tourism sector.
