Development Bank of Jamaica

The DBJ assisted the Jamaica Broilers Group (JBL) with a loan for the construction of an ethanol plant, an alternative energy project. The loan was channelled through National Commercial Bank Limited (NCB), Pan Caribbean Financial Services, and First Caribbean International Bank (FCIB).

Financing was provided to this company by the DBJ through the National People’s Co-operative Bank Limited (NPCB) for the implementation of a greenhouse in which crops are produced under protected agriculture. That is, they are grown in soil, or natural media, under conditions which protect the plant from the vagaries of the weather, as well as keep out harmful pests and diseases resulting in crops of better and more consistent quality.

The DBJ has provided a loan for the construction of ‘Mystic Mountain Rain Forest Bobsled Jamaica’, a US$6.2M eco-adventure tourism attraction overlooking Ocho Rios, St. Ann.

DBJ provided loans to the Roy Jumi poultry operation to expand and upgrade one of the most technologically advanced poultry farms in Jamaica. The fully automated 2.03-hectare farm, located in Nightingale Grove, St. Catherine, has three tunnel-ventilated poultry houses with a total capacity of 64,000 sq. ft and 96,000 birds per batch in these poultry houses.

The DBJ has provided financing to assist with the expansion of Kingston Wharves Limited (KWL) which owns and operates Berths 1 – 9 in the port of Kingston.

Sha-Gore Aggregates Limited has, for the last 15 years, been involved in the processing of aggregate materials, sand and other earthen products.
